License requirments for SFB 2015 On-Prem servers RRS feed

  • Hi,

    We are planning the deploy the Skype for Business 2015 server in one of our site with the following numbers. Please let know how many SFB Server licenses do we need for the below setup.

    2x Front-End Servers

    2x Edge Servers

    1x Persistent Chat Server

  • Hi,

    Regarding server licensing; only Front End servers need server licenses; you're edge and persistent chat servers do not require server licenses.

    Based on  the information you've provided, you'll need two :)

    As a supplement about SFB license

    Standard CAL:
    The SFB Standard CAL offers instant messaging and rich presence (IM/P) features. It provides users with real-time presence and enhanced IM along with PC-to-PC audio and video communications, as well as authenticated attendee experience for internal Lync Meetings.
    Enterprise CAL:
    The SFB Enterprise CAL offers Lync Meetings, including Audio, Video, and Web conferencing features. It provides users the ability to create, moderate, and join conferences for collaboration with both internal and external users.
    Plus CAL:
    The SFB Plus CAL offers enterprise voice capabilities that can enhance or replace traditional PBX systems. These capabilities include common calling features such as answer, forward, transfer, hold, divert, release, and park, along with Enhanced 9-1-1 calling for North America, support for analog devices and a broad range of both IP and USB user devices from partners.
