Everytime the Trust monitoring cycle is initiated, we're getting the following warning (EventID 168):
The Federation Service encountered an error while retrieving the federation metadata document from 'https://nexus.microsoftonline-p.com/federationmetadata/2007-06/federationmetadata.xml'. The monitoring for the following trusts failed:

Relying parties:
Microsoft Office 365 Identity Platform
Additional Data
Exception details:
The remote name could not be resolved: 'http'

Make sure federation metadata URL is accessible.
Verify your proxy server setting. For more information about how to verify your proxy server setting, see the AD FS Troubleshooting Guide (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=182180).
I thought the service account could have problems getting the proxy server information and going through it but the network trace doesn't show any traffic when the trust monitoring cycle is being executed.
I also looked at the following Microsoft articles (the certification part) without success.
