Added new WFE - Web Application Service stuck in 'Starting' RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have successfully added a new WFE to my MOSS 2007 farm.  However, the Windows SharePoint Application Service is stuck in the 'Starting' state.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?  I have tried restarting IIS and the server itself.  I tried removing it from the Farm and re-adding as well.

  • Hi,

Have you checked if Timer services are up and running in all servers in the farm?

Also I would suggest you to use STSADM commands to provision roles wherever required.

I hope this will help you out.

  • if you sucessfully added WFE I assume that there were no errors in Sharepoint configuration wizard. Did you check the event viewer and Sharepoint logs?

The first time I tried to join to the farm, it failed with an access denied error for MyComputer.  So I logged in as the Farm Admin and re-ran it.  It worked with any errors.
