MDT 2012 Update 1 - I have the correct drivers, MDT injects them, but then fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I have succeeded in doing a manual Windows 2008 R2 deployment with the HP DL380e and HP DL380p and the loading the correct network drivers into windows.

    If i install the servers with MDT (I've added the correct drivers to MDT and can see them being injected) the deployment fails with the notice "A connection to the Deployment share cannot be made. The following network device did not have a driver installed"

    These are the PnP id's im encountering:

    HP DL380e ->

    Could not find driver for
    VEN  8086
    DEV  1521
    SUBS 3380103C
    REV  01

    HP DL380p ->
    VEN  14E4
    DEV  1657
    SUBS 169D103c
    REV  01

    How can i debug this issue?

    Kind regards,

    Jay

  • Have you tried using both x86 as well as x64 PE Images? Make sure that you have the according Driver architecture for both PE Images.

  • Are you injecting the Drivers in WinPE Boot Images or are you adding them in the Task Sequence to the device through a manual step or DriverGroup001 setting?  I'd start by looking at the ZTIDrivers.log to see what's actually happening during the imaging process.

  • Haven't tried using the x64 PE Images, i will give it a try and see if the drivers work in the x64 version of WinPE. We are using WinPE 4.0 because we also want to deploy Windows 2012 on these systems.

  • @DC, Both. I have the drivers inside my WinPE and added them to the task sequence and injecting them into the OS. With Windows 2012 the drivers work inside WinPE and in the OS. With 2008 R2, the drivers work in WinPE (same bootimage, same WinPE version) but fail (server loses network connectivity) after booting into the OS for the first time.

    In the ZTIDrivers.log i can see them being copied to the file system, but nothing hapens after that so it seems.

    For the drivers i'm followed this guide and added all of our server types: http://wisejeff.blogspot.nl/2013/05/mdt-2012-drivers-using-selection.html

    Kind regards,
