  • Hi Sathish S,

The size of your ost-file isn’t really representative for the size of your mailbox. There are many other items stored in it. For example, public folder favorites or shared folders of additional mailboxes linked to your Exchange account.

If you don’t need off-line access to shared folders and don’t regularly access them either, you can disable the option to cache shared folders in general or not to cache shared mail folders.

To do this, please go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double click your account and then choose More Settings. Under Advanced tab, untick the option “Download shared folders”.

Similar to caching of shared folders, you can choose to disable the option to cache Public Folder Favorites.

If you have further concern about this issue, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Thanks for the update, but user required to have that mailbox in his outlook as he is the owner of that mailbox. To keep track of emails. Any other way?

  • Thank you guys. I was able to explain user more about OST files, now his mailbox alone was set to cache and all the additional mailbox has been set to online mode.

    Thank you.
