Microsoft Project 2010 vs. 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I will be taking a Project Management course that has a requirement to use Microsoft Project 2010, I have the Microsoft Project 2013, will these programs be compatible or do I need 2010 version.  The teacher notes said that some key strokes between the two programs may be difficult to process.

    Thank you!

  • PMP2010,

You should have no problem. Project 2013 and Project 2010 use the same file format and the same ribbon user interface. The only difference is that Project 2013 has some features that Project 2010 does not (e.g. expanded report capability).

I don't what your teacher might be referring to about the "key strokes" but I think that statement is misguided and I would ignore it.

However, with Project it is very important to keep your version updated. If you do not have Windows Update set up for automatic updates, you can run Windows Update at any time and get the latest updates. For reference, check out this blog: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/projectsupport/p/msp13

    Hope this helps.

    John
