User profile service failed the logon-user profile cannot be loaded RRS feed

  • Question

  • this is the error message we are getting on my husband's computer. i see similar questions and some solutions to the problem. however, he only has one profile on the computer at this time so we can't even get past the logon screen to get to any other options at this time. how can we get past this?

    thank you!

  • Hi,

    You may refer to the steps in the following Microsoft KB article:

    Error message when you log on to a Windows Vista-based computer by using a temporary profile: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"

  • Hi Sabrina;

    Please read the question again before pointing the asker to useless information. The key phrases being "only one profile" and "can't even get past the logon screen".

    I have the same issue and have been trying to solve it for hours now, but every solution I have found, including the one you reference, involves using an admin or alternate profile.

    Thanks in advance.
