UAG Endpoint Detection fails on XP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

We had a consultant set up UAG so we could access an SSL-VPN - the endpoint detection seems to work for Windows 7 clients but not XP.

We have checked the Parameters tab in the UAG Web Monitor and can see that the XP client is failing both checks (1 registry and 1 Network_Domains_DNS check)

But have no idea why - at the very least the XP box should pass the out of the box Network_Domains_DNS...and the reg keys are all present on the device too.

Unfortunately it's quite difficult to troubleshoot this on a production box....hoping that there are some known issues we dont yet know about...

    Thanks for any advice

  • Turned out the Endpoint components were not installed and could not be re-installed until I raised a call with MS and spoke with Faisel - his blog post found here solved the problem for us.

The problem seems to emerge on WinXP when a non-admin user attempts to install the components from the UAG site - the product partially (maybe 1%) installs which then leads to an issue when you try to install the components as an admin - the yellow bar wont appear in IE and also the manual installation (via MSI) fails.

The answer is to agressively uninstall the components via a registry cleanup which is documented in the blog post (linked) there's also an AutoIT script mentioned in the comments section

    HTH someone else
