Updates for windows server 2016 not downloading in WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We are having trouble installing updates for windows server 2016 clients. The updates are failing with the error code 0x80244019. However other operating systems like 2012 R2, 2008 R2 are working without any issues.

After some research i found that the update files are missing in WSUS content folder.

We could not find the respective file in WSUS content.

Any idea why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance...

  • Hi Arun,

According to your description, I think checking the connection of the client is the first thing to do.
Please perform these steps to check the connection on the client that cannot get the update.

    1. Press Windows + R and enter services.msc in the Run, and check if the following services are started:
      - Background Intelligent Transfer Service
      - Automatic Update

    2. Press Windows + R and enter CMD in the Run, and test the site connectivity by using the following command:
      > Telnet <yourservername> 80
      > Telnet <yourservername> 8530
      > Ping <yourservername>

    3. Press Windows + R and enter Regedit in the Run, and navigate to the following location:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate
Check if the value of WUServer is the WSUS server name.

    4. Use a browser on the client to access the following address:
      http://<yourservername>:8530/iuident.cab
      http://<yourservername>:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab
Check if the above two files can be downloaded.

    5. Check for updates using following command in PowerShell:
      > (New-Object -ComObject Microsoft.Update.AutoUpdate).DetectNow()

After completing the above steps, check the client's WindowsUpdate.log file to check if the client can update.
Reply back with the results would be happy to help.

    Regards,
