Bug check RRS feed

  • Question

  • My desktop is running Windows 7 64 bit on an ASUS M5A78L/USB3 Motherboard.

I have a problem where after the machine has been powered off at the mains for over several hours and then booted up I get a fault, the machine shuts down and restarts. e.g. this morning I switched on and booted up OK .. shut down and powered off at toggle switch. This evening at around 19:42 almost 12 hours later I switched on the power and booted up. The screen showed blue and ran a bug check and then shut down after which it has started up OK. Last week I reloaded Windows 7, updated the bios and set all bios settings to default. The event log shows

have been wrestling with this regular shutting down and restarting after boot up. Once up and running I can shut down and switch off and reboot frequently without any problem. I then leave the machine for say 8 hours or more and it goes through this boot up and shut down cycle.
