Find all GPO objects with specific settings

    Question

  • We have about 50 GPO objects in our domain and I need to find all which have Drive Mapping settings setup (User configuration > Preferences > Windows settings > Drive Maps). Is there any automatic way to do it?

Yes. Simply use the "Search" feature of GPMC :)

Right click either forest or domain, "Search", then "User Configuration"
    - "Contains" - "Group Policy Drive Maps".

Note that in my test environment, the search for "User Configuration"
was broken in 2012R2, but did work in 2008R2. Don't know whether this is
one of the numerous GPO bugs in 2012R2 or a misconfiguration of my
    environment.

Addon: If you want to fully automate it -

    dsquery * -filter
    "(gPCUserExtensionNames=*{5794DAFD-BE60-433f-88A2-1A31939AC01F}*)" -attr
    DisplayName

  • And how to construct such queries? If I need to find another GPO objects with another type of settings?

  • And another question connected with this  topic: how to find all GPO objects which contains settings with specific network path. As on previous question I wanted to find and change all GPO object with drive mapping settings because we changed some network path for network shares. But I just found that this will impact other GPO settings also like path for background picture file

    Adjust to your needs.

That's the reason I strongly recommend using DFS-N for central
ressources. This enables you to replace file servers as you like without
    impacting UNC paths :)
