Search for <filename> across all Protection Groups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I need to be able to find all backed up files containing a specific string in the filename. How can this be done with DPM? Do I use PowerShell or should I create a custom report or something else?

    Thanks in advance!

  • If you're just looking for strings in a file name you could just check the directory as follows

    get-childitem -path "DirectoryPath" -recurse | where-object {$_.Name -match "SearchString"}

  • Hi

    Thank you for replying.

    What would be the 'DirectoryPath'? I need to search through all files that have been backed up.

  • Hi Michael,

    Have you tried to used the built-in function in DPM?

    In the DPM console (2012 and above), click on the Recovery tab. You'll see the "Files and Folders" under the "Search" section (bottom left of the console, just above the tabs).

    Hope this helps,

  • Yes, I have tried that, but it is not possible to search all servers.
