File Sharing & NTFS Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am working in a Windows server 2012 environment running a Active Directory without and central access policy for files or folders. My issue is I cant seem to apply the file and folder permissions I desire. I know that the resultant permissions are an amalgamation of file sharing and NTFS Permissions. Even after trying everything I cant seem to make domain users not delete files in a particular folder.

  • Hi Saurabh_mittal_0185,

    Thanks for your post.

Could you please specific your settings? What's the error prompt the domain users get?

For general folder, you could assisgn the sharing permission to the domain users so that user could access to the folder and in the security permission, you could assign the modify/ read-only permission to the user. You could assign read-only permission to users to limit delete files.

You may refer to the articles for more details
