SQL Server Reporting services application migration. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to migrate my reporting service(sql 2014, sharepoint mode, sharepoint 2013, windows server 2008 r2) to (sql 2016, sharepoint mode, sharepoint 2016, windows server 2016 r2).

Can anyone help here with some documents.

    I tried:

  • Hi,

There are two installation components to upgrade a Reporting Services SharePoint Mode deployment.

    • Reporting Services SharePoint Shared Service.
    • Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products. For more information, see Install or Uninstall the Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint.

Read the following article for more information:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/install-windows/upgrade-and-migrate-reporting-services?view=sql-server-2017#bkmk_sharePoint_scenarios

    Best regards,

    Linda

  • Hi Linda,

    I have already installed

    • Reporting Services SharePoint Shared Service.
    • Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products.

Step 2: Copied the reporting database (catalog) from SQL 2014 to my new SQL DB(SQL 206).

Step 3: Took the backup of encryption key from source environment (SHarepoint 2013 [took backup using central admin])

Step 4: Created a new SQL Server Reporting service application (Sharepoint 2016). Selected the copied database (step 2) as the database for reporting service.

Step 5: The wizard ask wether to continue with the existing database. On clicking "OK", after some time, the wizard shows error "Something went wrong! Failed to upgrade the database ".

  • Hi Ankita_sri,

The error message is general, you need to provide the detailed information or some screenshots about it to analysis further.

    Thanks,

    Wendy
