DPM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 12 fails on Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone been successful in getting the UR 12 to upgrade Windows 7 clients?  On every Win7 client in our network I get the same error:

    Protection agent version: 4.2.1553.0
Error: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 313
The agent operation failed because an error occurred while running the installation program on XXX.XXX.com.
Detailed error code: Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)
Recommended action: Review the log files on XXX.XXX.com.: [windir]\temp\msdpm*.log and take appropriate action. Retry the operation, and if the error persists, restart the computer and then retry the operation again.

  • Same here. Our problem started already with UR11.
I'v seen somewhere that the x86 installer is broken but I can not find where did they mention it...

Looks like it is having trouble creating the Scheduled Tasks - I have check permissions on the Tasks folder and see no issues.   Any ideas?

  • Glad you posted, it reminded me to finish this off...

After a week or two of trying everything I started a case with Microsoft Tech Support.  They were able to reproduce the issue in their lab and created a new fix for it which will be included in UR 13.

You can presumably get the fix by contacting them and referencing Issue Number:  117030815426181.

  • Hello,

I have the same issue with 2 customers.

I called Microsoft to ask the UR13 with the Issue Number 117030815426181 and they said that cannot give information because its a confidential issue.

So they advice me to create a new Support Case for this issue.

Do you have another way to obtain the UR13?

    I will appreciate any advice.

    Best regards,

    Manuel

  • Should not be a charge to start a support case since it is a software bug.

  • Hello, do we have any News on it ? it's annoying to have an official bug and MS doesn't react on it...

  • Hello,

Microsoft provided us a fix and is working good, they said that is a pre-release of UR13 becasuse the UR will be available until on July 2017.

Send me your email address and I will share you the Fix.

    Best regards,

    Manuel
