hard drive on protected computer runs out of space while trying to back it up RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to protect a Win 2k3 R2 server that hosts Sharepoint 3.0 using DPM 2010.  I am currently trying to protect all of the SQL Server 2005 information (databases) that is on the same  sharepoint server, the entire C: and D: hard drives, and the system state.  The system state .bak file that is made on this computer stores on the C: drive.  The remaining part of the data is stored on the D: drive (includes SQL DB's, etc.).  When DPM 2010 runs it seems to eat up all of the hard drive space on D: on the protected sharepoint server.  I initially have 60gb on the D: drive and then in a matter of minutes after protecting it under DPM 2010, the drive shrinks down to almost nothing as far as free space.  When I remove protection of the protected server the hard drive space of 60gb's returns.  Can somebody please tell me what is going on and if there is a fix?
