How to specify replica and recovery partition sizes when adding new data sources? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

When protecting individual folders in file servers, we need to specify the replica size to maintain efficient use of the DPM disks. We found with DPM 2016 that when you use the GUI to add new data sources to an existing protection group, it does not let you specify the size of the replica and simply assigns double the detected folder size.

This is very wasteful and will prevent us from migrating to DPM 2016. We wish to only allocate 20% more than the detected folder size.

Is there a way, such as using PowerShell, to add data sources and specify the size of the replica and recovery partitions? I found the command Set-DPMDatasourceDiskAllocation, but I don't know if it does what I need and can't find any tutorials on how to use it on DPM 2016. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thank you for reading.
