DPM 2007 protection on SQL 2005 no longer working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since last weekend, DPM 2007 protection works no longer for SQL2005. When I try to modify the protection group, the Clustered Resource on which SQL server is running is no longer visible. When looking at the seperate servers, I receive the following error

The operation failed because an error occurred while enumerating the data source for SqlServerWriteCheck to see that the data source specified in the error message is online and accessible.
    ID: 921
    Details: Internal error code: 0x80990F11

I don't believe anything in the hardware or software on the DPM server or Clustered servers was manually changed. No Windows updates where installed.

Restarted several sql services, moved the sql clusterd group to a different server and back, but without any result.

    Looked up ID 921.

The operation failed because an error occurred while enumerating the data source for the SqlServerWriter\<database name> on which mirroring was enabled using Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6).

    Action:

Configure the mirrored database using a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) instead of an IP address. DPM cannot back up mirrored databases that are configured with IP addresses.

We don't use mirrored databases. Still, the DPM Backup of the volumes on the physical servers works fine.

Does anyone know, were to look next?

    Thanks for your reply,

  • While Querying the Cluster - we're getting back: Internal error code: 0x80990F11 which equals E_RESOURCE_GROUP_FAILURE.  Please check for any failed resources in the resource group containing the SQL server.
