HPE Gen9 and Gen10 mix in cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I currently have 2-nodes Hyper-V cluster running on HPE Gen9 hardware. We have 2 new HPE Gen10 servers - can I join these 2 Gen10 server to the existing Gen9 cluster? All 4 servers are running the same Windows Server 2016 Standard version and build.

    Thank you

Answers

  • Hi,

Both HPE Gen9 and Gen10 are certified for Windows Server 2016, so there shouldn't be any problem having them in the same cluster.

Do note however that if your cluster is a Hyper-V cluster, you will most likely need to check the "CPU compatibility mode" in Hyper-V in order to be able to live migrate virtual machines between servers with different processors.

    Best regards,
    Leon
