    Question

  • I have RemoteFX USB Redirection up and running. However i have a device that when redirected if accessed will cause the VM to Blue Screen. I am looking for ideas here. Its an intraoral camera sopro 617. I have tried both windows 7 and server 2012 as the VM and both crash

  • We have the same type of issue,  Were finally able to get it working - sort of.

    Our setup is

    Server 2012R2: RDS Host/HyperV

    Windows 10: VM

    Windows 7: Thin Client\Laptop

We updated the Driver on the Windows 10 machine and the passthrough works but then crashes after about 10 seconds of using the camera.  We found that if we were not using it remotely, it lasts a lot longer, but eventually it does crash.

The point being it when we use the camera at a remote location, the amount of Bandwidth needed to support such a device is extraordinary.  When using local to the server that is hosting the VM.  (So sitting at my desk only a floor away from the server and logging into my VM)  I could watch the bandwidth jump from 5Mbps to 100+Mbps.  So for us after we got the correct driver installed, it comes down to a bandwidth issue.

  • Interesting.

Thanks for the update. However we are in the middle of decommissioning our RDS setup for reasons just like this.
