Client PC showing updates needed for declined updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have many, not sure how many client computers both server and client OS showing 'Needed Count' for updates that were 'Declined' and/or 'Not Applicable'. Anyone know how this happens and if it can be resolved. It would be greatly appreciated.

As the client obviously shows as not being up to date for reporting.

    Thanks.

    Physically and Logically Impossible!

    • Declined updates show ZERO counts for all states.
    • "Not Applicable" and "Needed" are mutually exclusive states.

Perhaps you could describe in more detail what you are observing?

  • Additional info, these 'Declined' updates are superseded updates. Critical. Definition and Security updates are automatically approved. Once a higher update comes out I decline the lower update to keep WSUS clean. I don't believe the updates have been downloaded as the client PC itself shows as up to date.

  • You are correct. What I have found is the Critical, Definition and Security updates are not being automatically approved for this particular group. Or at least some of them. I re-ran the rule and now all specified updates are being auto approved and applied. I must have forgot to re-run the rule when I created it for this group.

    Thanks Lawrence.
