When MS is going to change programmers monitors from 4:3 to 16:9? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an issue with SIZE TO FIT COLUMNS on every screen related to:

    1. Windows Explorer

    2. Open Systems tasks such as Computer Management, Services

    3. Any other tasks with more then 1 column HAS same issue.

It must be a way to set size of columns from original ~100 to 400-600 in ALL screens not just Win Explorer.

To achieve this Microsoft should buy good monitors for their own programmers so they could see how it is look like on 16:9 24 inch screen at least.

  • Hi John_J_Sydney,

This should not be an issue. The current design meets the most situations of Windows Explorer usage. The file name length can reach to 255 bytes. Most wide monitors cannot display so many bytes with other columns at the same line. "Size all columns to fit" is specific to the currently opened folder in Windows Explorer.

However, thanks for your suggestion and feedback. I will record and submit it.

    Best regards,

    Karen Hu
