Shared mailbox task list with duplicate tasks being created

    Question

  • Hi there,

We have a shared mailbox that more than 10 people are setup and connected to it. On a random basis it seems as though tasks are being duplicated. So one day they will have singles of the task and then the next day they all of a sudden have a handful of overdue tasks that appear to the copies of previously closed tasks.

If you open the task you get some message like "you are editing a copy of this task, to see the other version of it click here" and if you click here it then takes you to the closed version of said task.

Doesn't happen very often and it doesn't happen for everybodys tasks. Just a few users. Checked on those user's outlooks and no sync errors are there. You can merge the 2 tasks together which then only shows the 1 completed task but it does keep happening from time to time and it would be nice to get a resolution to this.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Managed to resolve this in the end.

It turned out to be a laptop that was occasionally used by that team that was setup with a cached exchange mode on the shared mailbox. When someone connected said laptop to the network  it ended up creating duplicates of the tasks that it had already cached locally.

Took off cached mode and seems to be ok now
