I.E. 7 autocomplete

Question
-
to have a solution. Why is this? It is a simple question that needs an
answer.Everyone here sends us to other sites or some rediculous answer like
uninstall and reinstall I.E.7.
Well just to let some know that is not an option in Vista.
Now for the question at hand. How to fix the Autocomplete in I.E. 7 ?
This kb articleArticle ID : 942090
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
3. In the details pane, double-click FormSuggest.
4. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
There's no Internet Explorer and no Control Panel.Leaving me to wonder where
would FormSuggest be? and How can you set the value to 1 if there are no
subkeys to do so????????
Now I would think with all the Experienced Techs on TechNet and so on,that
someone could find a simple answer.
I'm just a novice, but even I can see that there needs to be a parameter
set.Like making a new Dword Value (FormSuggest) but where would it be placed
if there's no Internet Explorer or Control Panel? Do we need to create these
also?Tuesday, December 18, 2007 8:15 AM

I've also tried to locate the supposed FormSuggest subkey per the information in this article
The AutoComplete feature does not work in Windows Internet Explorer 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942090
which gives the same registry location as described above, but this does not exist in my registry. I'm running Windows XP Pro.
I want autocomplete for forms to work in IE 7. What's the problem? Does anyone know what to do?Thursday, January 17, 2008 9:36 PM -

@ palclan: are you running XP or Vista?
(note that the above-mentioned fix is only for XP, which explains dmhoo's issues of 2 years ago...)
