Login script suggestions? RRS feed

  • Question

  • The software developed in my organization has a management console which manages access permissions by the computer name on the domain. So for example, PC03 is active in the database and has permission to use these programs. This means I must statically assign IP addresses and this has gotten very messy in the last 2 years.

I am trying to implement a solution to keep better track of this.

My question is, would it be clever to implement a login script which sends me the information about the computer, i.e. computer name, ip address, OS Version, etc?

Or is there some other management utility I can use for this.

  • Are the systems in a domain? In a domain network, all these above information is eaisly seen and moreso you can centrally adminster systems using group policy.
