How can I check that the customer bought the correct SCE 2010 license? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to check if the customer bought/installed the correct software license for SCE 2010?

If correct he should have bought SCE 2010 Plus so DPM is included. There are several administration departments involved. It would be quicker if I could check the installed license on the server itselve (logfile).

Or are there no differences in the licenses between the SCE 2010 and SCE 2010 Plus.

I tried to find an answer but licensing seems to be very complex.

  • Thnx Yog Li,

I had read the references you mentioned and it doesn't give the answer to the question, so I called the Microsoft support (NL).

SCE 2010 is sold as Volume License and there is no registration of a SCE 2010 Plus product. That would means that when the customer buys a SCE 2010 Plus license he can check that on his custom MS license website, but from the technical side it's not possible to check the difference. When SCE 2010 Plus is bought he has purchased a license for SCE 2010 and DPM and that is only an administrative product.

  • Hello,

Please open SCE console and navigate to the Administration Overview pane, where you can find the current Essentials license count and a link to purchase additional licenses.

For more information about the license of SCE 2010, please see here:

You can also visit Microsoft Volume Licensing Site http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/ to find the contact information.

    Hope this helps.
