How do I resolve "Status of Windows Firewall is unavailable" error? RRS feed

  • I am running Windows 7 Enterprise, with all current important updates applied. The version of Forefront Client Security I am running is 2.0.1677.0, engine version 1.1.6103.0. I just started seeing this message this morning, and can't see a way to clear it. I did an general Internet search on the error message string and got no hits. Ideas?

  • I've had this same Forefront error on two machines now, and there's nothing I can point to that might have triggered the problem.  One machine was even a clean install that was only a few hours old, with the latest versions of MS Office and Adobe CS5 about all that was installed.  The WMI service seems to be running fine, and doing an uninstall and reinstall of the Forefront client doesn't seem to have any effect.  Only a clean install of the OS seems to fix the problem.
