I have Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgraded from Home) and can't install SQL Server 2008 because of the Edition WOW64 platform error. I realize that SQL Server 2008 Express will run in 32 bit mode, but surely I should be able to install. Please advise as to a workaround.
I now see that I needed to download the 64 bit version. I thought Express was a 32 bit process, and didn't think to check the site for a different installer. Looks like the 64 bit install package is going to work.
