Issue upgrading FEP 2010 to SCEP 2012 on Windows 8 with CM2012 Policy RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone had any issues upgrading Windows 8 from Forefront 2010 to SCEP 2012 using CM2012?  We are using CM2012 SP1 CU2.

We have 5 computers in the test collection.  2 are Win7.  3 are Windows 8.  All are getting the same policies.  All had the same version of Forefront 2010.  All were previously on the CM2007 client.  All 5 clients took the CM2012 client upgrade fine.  The 2 Win7 computers upgraded to SCEP 2012 immediately after they took the policy.  But, Windows 8 will not upgrade.  We just get the below errors.  To get it to work, we had to manually remove FEP 2010 and then remove and reinstall the CM2012 client.  Any ideas why this is not working properly?

Description=Cannot complete the System Center Endpoint Protection installation. An error has prevented the System Center Endpoint Protection setup wizard from completing successfully. Please restart your computer and try again. Error code:0x80070643. Fatal error during installation.

Failed to install EP Client with exit code = 0x80070643

Unable to query key (Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client), return (0x80070002) means EP client is NOT installed
