Text box layout options RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Word 2003 I could create a textbox (for document id) in the header/footer and set the LAYOUT property to IN FRONT OF TEXT.  When CTRL+A was used to select the entire header/footer and delete it, the textbox WAS NOT selected.  However, in 2010, the property does not prevent the textbox from being selected with CTRL+A.  Is there a way to replicate the behavior in 2003 so the textbox is not deleted when when opts to delete header/footer?

Be happy to furnish it.  How do I get it to you?

The most efficient approach would be to upload the document (or relevant portions of it) to one of those file sharing sites, and then link to it here.

  • Any object anchored to the header will be deleted when you press Delete after you have selected all header content, which you can do by pressing Ctrl+A. This works the same in Word 2003 and 2010. The difference is that, in Word 2010, Ctrl+A also shows the anchored object as being selected.

  • I am able to do what you suggest has not changed in 2003.  I can select ALL in a 2003 header and press delete and the textbox anchored to the header remains.  When I open the 2003 document in 2010 and select ALL, the textbox that remained in 2003, is deleted in 2010.

Well, I can’t reproduce what you describe. I’d certainly be interested in taking a look at the document in question.
