Deploying Visual Studio via Intune RRS feed

  • Question

  • Pushing VS2019 via Intune to a test machine and it fails with error.

"The unmonitored process is in progress, however it may timeout. (0x87D300C9).

The file we are using for install is an .exe file.

The setup was done by somebody who is no longer with the company but was never tested/deployed.  I just assigned the application it to a test group to see if the software will deploy but it has failed.

I am looking through various links:

    https://www.anoopcnair.com/intune-win32-app-deployment

    https://www.anoopcnair.com/intune-win32-app-troubleshooting/

I know there are many variables involved. Any guidance is much appreciated!

    Client is Win10 Enterprise - 1903 build

    Thanks!

Note: Not downloading/Installing workloads. Just basic install

Sitting there from last few hours.

  • Hello,

Based on the error message, it sounds like that the installation package is not downloaded successfully.

What's the size of the package? Please note that the size of each application is limited to 8GB.

More details about Win32 app deployment, please click the following link.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/apps/apps-win32-app-management

  • Thank you Andy.

I already checked the link you posted.   Yes, I am aware of the  8gb limit per Win32 package.

    The package is 700mb

    Thank you

  • Thank you Andy I will have a look at the discussion.

I have attached the screen shot.  Install command ... I have tried it as is and also with /quiet switch but results are still same.  The package reaches the

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Intune Management Extension\Content\Incoming

and the log shows file indicates ...

Cleaning up staging content C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Intune Management Extension\Content\Staging\7fb22b32-5efa-4b0d-93c9-3510925810b9_1.

I also see this in the log:  [Win32App] Path doesn't exists: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\vs_installer.exe applicationDetected: False

    related to detection rule
