Tape backups fail with "could not find a valid recovery point on disk (id:30126)" RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a failover cluster file server resource (G:) that fails to backup to tape. The recovery point and synchronization jobs to disk are running without error and I can create a new recovery point with synchronization without a problem. I've successfully restored from the latest disk based resource. We're running DPM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012 R2. The failover nodes are running Windows Server 2012 R2 on a Hyper-V cluster running Windows Server 2012 R2. VSS on the owning nodes looks healthy. It has several shadow copies.

  • Hi,

No need for a mystery - you can view all job history for that one data source using custom filter and that will reveal where the disk based RP was not made between online RP attempts.

  • Hi,

What is frequency and recovery point times for both the disk an tape based recovery points ?

You can make a custom jobs filter and select recovery point and tape backup for that data source and look at past jobs to see why the error is occurring.

  • Sorry for the late response. Monday was a holiday. The tape backup for Friday ran successfully. So, it will just remain a mystery for now.
