How to change WSL hostname so that it differs from the Windows system? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know this might not be the right place to ask this question. But I didn't find a more suitable forum to post it (can't find a forum category named 'WSL' or likes)

Because WSL2 is running on hyper-v, and WSL2 systems have different ip addresses than the host Windows system. However, they do have the same HOSTNAME which confuses some applications (such as the ROS, it uses a C/S architecture, and communicate via hostnames)

    Please help, thanks in advance.

  • What I really want is have a 'Server' running in WSL2, and a 'Client' running on the host Windows, and they uses a nslookup mechanism to find each other.

  • Hello,

Since this forum is mainly covering questions about System Center Virtual Machine Manager, I would recommend to submit a new question on the following site for getting support.

    https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues

    Best regards,
