Gadgets, RDP and logging out/in... RRS feed

  • Question

  • So, I had to restart my computer remotely the other day through RDP.  When I logged back in I noticed my desktop gadgets were... well, gone.  I managed to get them back by right clicking on the desktop and selecting gadgets.  However, I tried logging out and logging back in through RDP and sure enough, gone again.  So when I arrived at the computer in question and logged out and logged in (at the machine, not through RDP) the gadgets stayed where they were.  It doesn't happen if I disconnect and reconnect a session, only when I log out/log in and only over RDP.  So is this a bug?  Is it by design?  Has anyone else noticed this?  Is there a way around it?  It's not fatal, just ... ever so mildly annoying... like a fly bite.

It's not a big deal, but I figure Win 7's been out long enough and doing well enough that I can nitpick now :)

  • Now I solved the problem by starting the sidebar.exe automatically by each login with the "all programs/autostart" - folder (for my user).
