  • Can you try below workaround and check to
    1. If any antivirus is there then, disable the antivirus and check
    2. open services > check for Network Location Awareness > disable it and check
    3. Check the "Default open behaviour for browser-enabled documents". If it is "Open in the browser", then change it to "Open in the client application".

also, share the logs when this error occurs from SharePoint as well as from client machine.

  • Hi Rustam,

I need to collect the following article to further troubleshoot the issue:

Do you open the PowerPoint document with browser or client?

Does the issue exists in one special ppt or ? try to open other PowerPoint document and compare the results.

Can you open other file types successfully? such as word, excel files.

Using other browser (such as IE) to open the site and compare the results.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa Chen

  • Hi Lisa,

Sorry for delay in response. Thanks for your reply.

The PowerPoint document is uploaded in document library of SharePoint 2013. When we click on the document it opens in Microsoft PowerPoint Client Application and then a error message pops up saying "Microsoft Office cannot complete the operation because the network is unavailable. Check your network connection"

Let me know in case any more information is needed.

  • Hi Lisa,

Sorry for long delay in response. Other documents like Excel, word document works fine. It's only the case with PowerPoint presentation.

This PowerPoint file opens fine when user is in company's network but when connected outside the company using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client VPN there is a exclamation sign saying no internet access on the WIFI symbol. Though there is an internet and can open the SharePoint site but when trying to open ppt from document library it throws an error.

Here is one of the Microsoft link which provides temporary solution - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cisco-anyconnect-vpn-outlookoffice-2016-no/37cd2e27-7857-4f90-9803-a1b7ce55800f

Hope you have understood the problem!
