By editing the bindingredirect entries in <VS Installation Dir>\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe.config, i dont get the above error anymore and i am able to connect to datasoure and retrieve the fields(columns) in the table. I have redirected 10.0.0.0 version
of Microsoft.ReportingServices.Interfaces.dll to 220.127.116.11 which comes with SSRS 2012.
In SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008, we use Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) to design report, it use Visual Studio (VS) 2008 shell. In SSRS 2012, we use SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) to design reports, it use VS
2010 shell. So when you use SSDT to design report, the DLL for your Data Extension needs to be installed in the Visual Studio directory. This will be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\
In this same folder you need to add the Data Extension to RSReportDesigner.config as follows: In the <Extensions> <Data> section, add the following line:
<Extension Name="MyDataExtension" Type="My.Name.Space.MyDataExtensionClass"/>
In the <Extensions> <Designer> section, add the following line:
<Extension Name="MyDataExtension" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.QueryDesigners.VDTQueryDesigner,Microsoft.ReportingServices.QueryDesigners"/>
