Outlook 2016 (365) Freezing RRS feed

  • Am setting up a new computer and have Office 365.  Outlook 2016 is freezing- keeps synchronizing and doesn't seem to stop.  Unable to receive incoming mail.

  • Normally, after setting up a new account, Outlook will sync all messages from server to the local data file. If you have a large mailbox, this really would take a bit long time. You can wait for a while.

    What's your account type? Exchange, POP or IMAP?

    If the synchronization takes forever, please check the sync status in the bottom. Take a look if it was stuck when syncing specific folder.

    We can first create a new profile. To do this, please go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add. Follow the instruction to create a new profile and then start Outlook with the new one.

    Besides, we could use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) to run tests to resolve many different problems. For more details, please refer to this link.

  • Hi, 

    It is quite common to face issues in Outlook account. There are various ways to resolve Outlook issues like freezing, hanging etc. As Expert Perry Pan has suggested, you can try creating Outlook new profile. 

    You can try other solutions like:

    • Incorrect Office Installation
    • Safe Mode
    • Reset Dat Files
    • Cannot open the Outlook Window
    • Disable add-ins
    • Scanpst.exe to fix
    • Recreate mail profile
    • Re-install Outlook

    These are the traditional manual ways, which help you to fix Microsoft Outlook issues. If still  problem persist, it can of Outlook PST file issue. Then you to get a external help. Hope this may help you.
