FrontPage 2003 in Win 8 op sys RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded (after my system Trojan crash) FrontPage 2003.  Somehow,  it stops when it gets to a CAB file needed to continue.  I didn’t know how to contact someone regarding the use of WIN8 and FrontPage 2003 (compatibility) and the capability of FP to install properly. The folder exists with the file name showing that it’s looking for. I’ve tried pointing it to the folder where the file’s located. No dice.  It continues to stall at that point. I’ve tried reinstalling with the same outcome: F4561401.CAB can’t be found in the folder where it resides, but can’t see it or continue to install??? Whoa!!  I’m too experienced to face this issue <smile>.. What can be done? is FrontPage 2003 supported by Win*??

  • I see your statement about FrontPage 2003 SP3 being compatable with Windows 8 Pro. Would you be kind enough to verify this, please? We are fully aware of the limitations of FP 2003 VS the newer products but we have a specific need to continue using FP 2003 and will not upgrade to Windows 8 if it is not compatable. All our computers have FP 2003 SP3. Thanks, David

  • I am having the same problem having upgraded to Win 8 Pro from XP SP3.

Did a clean Windows 8 Pro install and finding same problem installing FP. I have downloaded SP3 for office 2003 but not installed it as I am running Office 2007?? not sure what effect it will have??

If I install FP 2003 with the errors and then Office 2003 SP3 then reinstall FP 2003 will this make it compatible or do you know if there is some way of downloading FP 2003 with SP3 already installed?

    Thanks for any help here

  • After my upgrade install of Windows 8, I was having issues and reloaded it fresh. I then reloaded all my software and everything was OK except I can't get past the Product Key entry screen, of Frontpage 2003. I have entered the correct key and tried it over and over and it tells me it is an invalid key.

Has anyone else tried entering it from the install disk?

Update: After 4 tries I rebooted the computer and tried to install Frontpage 2003 , from disk, again. This time it took the product key the first time and installed correctly. I did get a couple of error messages but ignored them. When the install was complete I did all the Windows updates, including SP3, to bring it up to date. I edited some web pages and they edited and uploaded great, using "Frontpage or Sharepoint Services". I also have Office 2007 installed and the updates of Office 2003 or 2007 didn't bother any of them. So far Frontpage 2003 seems to be working good in Windows 8.
