Buying sqlserver2005 RRS feed

  • Hi friends,

    I need to work on analysis services and reporting services.what version of sqlserver 2005 is best suitable  to buy? what will be the price?

  • That would depend on what you need to do.

     

    To work with analysis services you will need at least standard edition. Enterprise edition is the best as it comes with the most features but also costs a lot more. If you are developing\deploying solutions, then you can use the Developer edition, this comes with all the features of enterprise but may not be used in a production environment. If you only want to play around with these features at home then you can obtain a demo version of Enterprise edition, Microsoft will even mail it to you free if you are in the states (I believe). This is defiantly the cheapest but will expire after 180 days. 

    Pricing on production version is dependant on the environment that you are running in. Factored into this will be the number of CAL’s that you need, and the number of processors that you have on the machine.
