OSD and Hyper-V RRS feed

  • Dear Sir,

    can I use SCCM to create new Virtual Machine on Existing Hyper-V Cluster Server and Start OS deployment on this newly created VM?

    IF NOT, then please would you advice on away to Autp create New VM on existing Hyper-V Clustered Server?

  • You can definately use ConfigMgr for the OSD part. Actually created the guest VMs is out of scope for ConfigMgr but you could easily script this, use Virtual Machine Manager, or use Opalis/Orchestrator to to orchestrate the process.

  • Yes, you can boot into PXE in your new VM and start the OSD process.  Either provision the new system in ConfigMgr by MAC address or advertise the task sequence to the unknown computer.  Make sure you use Legacy network adapter in the VM for this.  Also you can mount the boot ISO to the VM and load off that.
