Restore WMI backup to a different computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

Is WMI computer specific?  i.e. If I have two machines performing identical role (such as cluster or remote desktop) and WMI has failed on one, can I backup WMI on the good server then restore it to the failed server?

I cant seem to find anything saying this is or is not possible.  This would be quicker than going through many MOF files if the computers are the same.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • You cannot copy the WMI database from one computer to another.

Have you searched for "repair corrupt WMI database"? (If you're sure that's even the problem?)

In any case jrv is correct that this is not a scripting question/problem.

  • Definitely not a good idea.

This is a scripting forum.  It is not the right place to ask your question.
