SCDPM with SAS Technology RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using DPM with DELL Powervault TL2000 tape library configured on MDP as an FC library, now we are going to replace the FC drives with SAS technology, so the library needs to be reconfigured as an SAS library in MDP. We will remove one FC and add SAS card and same on DPM server i.e. reomve the HBA card and install SAS card.

What are the steps to reconfigure the tape drive for SCDPM?

Does SCDPM 2007 support SAS or SCDPM 2010? or both are supported?

Earliest response will be highly appreciated.

  • Hi Syed,

As long as Windows identifies the library correctly in Device Manager then DPM will be able to see it. You need to follow these steps taken from to configure your tape library:

    1. In DPM Administrator Console, on the navigation bar click Management, and then click the Libraries tab.

    2. In the Actions pane, click Rescan.

The Rescan operation might take several minutes to complete. DPM will add any library jobs to the queue that began during the Rescan operation. If a library job is already in progress when the Rescan operation begins, the Rescan operation will fail.

Is that what you are looking for? If not here is more inforation about managing tapes in DPM
