Installing project server 2013 on SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have been battling to install project server 2013 on my SharePoint 2013 farm, i have 3 server's in the farm and i managed to install the software successfully however when running the config wizard it keeps on failing, i have tried to run it again as this does sometimes happen but still no luck, did a IISRESET and even rebooted but still fails. The error on the GUI is Unable to install application content files.

I have the log file but unable to to post it.

I am running the config wizard as farm account, i have also tried running it in PS but still no luck

    What am i missing ?

    Thanks!!!!

  • Hello,

So you are installing Project Server 2013 into an existing SP 2013 Enterprise farm? Have you installed the Project Server binaries on all 3 SharePoint servers? Have you applied the equivalent Project Server 2013 patches to match the SP patches on all servers then run the wizard?

  • Hi Paul,

Binaries ? and no i haven't applied the patches before running the config wizard, i didn't think that would cause an issue however i will install the patches and test again.

    Thanks

  • Hello, binaries is just the Project Server / SharePoint install media. This installs all the binary files on to your server. Paul

  • Yes i have installed it on all 3 server's, will be installing the patches to match the current farm tonight and see the result. I didnt know you could install patches if its basically not install properly if that makes sense...

  • Perfectly fine to install the SharePoint / Project Server media, then install the patches then run the SP wizard once when all the files and patches are installed, then build the farm. Let us know how you get on.

  • So i installed all the patches last night, however the other 2 server's are telling me that the patches aren't installed when i know they are... There is a PS script that i ran previously that fixed this problem but i couldn't find it last night so i will try and get that sorted today and try and run the config wizard tonight.
