Outlook: Not seeing option to show reminders on top of other windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of the features released in Version 1804 (Build 9226.2114) is "Set reminders to pop up over windows you're working in." According to https://support.office.com/en-us/article/set-or-remove-reminders-7a992377-ca93-4ddd-a711-851ef3597925?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US, this is controlled under Options > Advanced. But I am on build 9226.2126, and I don't have that option. I only have two checkboxes:

    Why would I be missing the checkbox to allow reminders to pop up over other windows?

  • Hi,

    I can see this option on my Outlook 2016 1804(Build 9226.2126).

    Please try repairing Office to check the result. To do this, please go to Control Pane > Programs and Features. Right click your Office suit. Click Change and then click Repair.

    If you have further concern, please feel free to post back to tell me.

  • When I clicked Changed I received the following message Do you want to reinstall MS Office 2016 x86 16.0.7369.2102 V01? This procedure will uninstall then reinstall the application. Does this mean my organization does allow a repair? Or will I still get the repair option after clicking on the Yes button?

  • At my company we have Office 365 with a semi-annual channel which means this feature will not deploy until 1808.  As of right now (Jan 3, 2019) there is no ETA on that version.  We've been on 1803 for 6 months now so I'm hoping to get it in the next month or so.

  • I wanted to add to this conversation for anybody trying to set this setting via GPO.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

    ShowRemindersOnTop = REG_DWORD

    Value = Hexadecimal

    1 Enabled

    0 Disabled
