[Vista] errors in Event Viewer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Every time I turn on my laptop, errors are written to Windows logs. I noticed them through Event Viewer. Below are their descriptions and details about my system.

Memory and hard disk tests reported no error.

I asked Acer support and they told me to ask Microsoft. I browsed the TechNet website and found some related threads. The answers were to ask the manufacturer. According to Vista HCL, my Acer laptop is Vista certified so I do not understand why there are all these errors in Event Viewer. My laptop has always worked fine, Windows has never crashed and I have never got any error popup window. But these logs are here and I am a bit worried. May it be a flaw in my hardware? Does anybody know what causes these errors?

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

These event messages may be logged in the System log in response to a Machine Check Architecture exception. It seems like a hardware compatibility issue. Make sure all the drivers are compatible and up to date with Windows Vista. And make sure Windows Vista has been updated to the latest version.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Thank you very much for your answer. I will check if there are updated drivers. As my laptop is Vista certified, I expected it to be fully compatible with Vista with the factory drivers... Don't they test their products before selling them? Anyway, if updated drivers exist and fix the problem, it will be fine.

    Thanks.
