Almost anything with intensive graphics causes my vista laptop to use a lot of cpu, and display the graphics slow and choppy. I guess the reason for this post is that just yesterday i bought "Knights of the old republic" for the computer.
Well, luckily, the game worked, BUT the video, picture is slow, and it uses a lot of cpu. Its a 3d game. But my laptop is pretty new. I got it in late 05 or 06. Knights of the old republic was made 3 years before that, so I would think it should work.
Anyway, I have ATI drivers. I DID get only a 2.0 in the windows indexing base score thing, and it says most games require at least a 3. Do I REALY need to get a new graphic card? Thats sounds a little ridiculous...
The chances are excellent that your laptop has a pretty basic integrated graphics setup. That spells bad game performance, period. Retrofitting another graphics adapter? Not possible to the best of my knowledge.
So I cant even get a new graphics card or anything? Is there anyway at all to get better performance?
Also, I recall intense, OpenGL graphics working fine on plain xp, when i had it. For example, the "Euphoria" screensaver. Now on vista, that burns up my cpu.
At the very least, I have the only game id probally ever realy play on the pc working, BUT it uses almost 100% cpu. I dont know that much about this, obviously its not good. But how bad is it? And, should I definatly not try playing this game?
Sorry for the bad spelling, im not in the mood to type.
