Add IP range to IE11 Compatability View? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    We have hundreds of old cameras that need to be viewed in Compatibility Mode.   We are all using Win 10, IE11.    Is there a way to set  network range .e.g 10.10.1.1-10.10.2.254 in compatibility mode instead of adding each IP address?

  • Hi,

    I think you mean CCTV cameras (or digital still cameras).

     for support in the first instance you should contact the manufacturer and check for driver/firmware updates for their products. They may have firmware or software updates that does not require compatibility view.

    they should automatically be mapped to the Intranet IE security zone....

    check Tools>Compatibility View Settings>"Display intranet sites in compatibility view".

    If they are not automatically mapped to the intranet zone, Post back with more details.... ( static or dynamic IP addresses?)

    confirm that the camera's firmware/software is mapping to the intranet zone from the File>Properties menu in IE.

    Regards.

    What is the UI for that?  E.g. if you had a single page with one of those addresses being used in a frame I imagine you would not have a problem, just that page would need to be marked for Compatibility View.  In fact, if it was an Intranet page you might get Compatibility View by default.

    Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "Compatibility Mode"  ;)

    There is Compatibility View (CV), there is Enterprise Mode (EM).

    Enterprise Mode (EMIE), by use of the XML file to control/manage which sites/pages/URLs/IP_addresses will render in which DocMode and/or CV.

    The Enterprise Mode Site List (EMSL) can be created and managed by use of the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager (EMSLM) tool.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie11-deploy-guide/what-is-enterprise-mode

    You can import a text file of 'sites' into the EMSLM tool;

    Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
