Can user who does not have rights to library make a change on infopath form via email? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Manager has rights to Sharepoint library but not employee. Manager creates and saves Infopath form and workflow sends email to employee with form attached. Can employee acknowledge receipt of form so sharepoint library shows the employee response ? Remember that employee does not have access to library. Thanks

  • Hi,

No, there is no automatic acknowledge feature in sharepoint list/library, where you can show that without any permission. You have to allow user to response on form so you can save that data in library. You say, workflow is sending email to employee with form attachment so can you tell us what is the workflow type and how did you create?

  • I have not done the workflow yet, I just wanted to find out at a high level if this was possible. I thought about using a feedback workflow. Any suggestions/ideas?

  • HI,

You can give acknowledge button on form and allow user to access this with read permission. Create a new email data connection and call this connection on that button (by rule) so as soon as user click this button then email will send to manager for acknowledge. You don't need to give any higher permission on list.

  • Ok, sounds like we are getting close, so when manager completes evaluation form, a copy is emailed to employee and employee clicks on acknowledge button that triggers an email to manager but will not update the form library with a new status because employee has no righrs to that library. I could work with that option possibly, any links you might suggest?
