Lync Online, Skype4B and Cisco Telepresence VCS Gateway RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I connect my Lync Online Tennant (Office 365 E3 plan) with a Cisco (Tandberg) Videoconference system? The lync clients wants to call in and the Cisco VCS want to call out to any Skype4B user. I don't have any MS server on premise.

  • Hi,

To use the VIS Server function on the SFB Server On-Premises, you need to move the online SFB users to the On-Premises side. The SFB online side users can't use the VIS Server function naturally.

  • Hi Richard, the short answer is that it cant be done without a onsite footprint. The VIS (Video Interoperability Server) Server which is an on premise, can provide this functionality (with come caveats)

Of course you have the option to make use of 3rd party bridges that allow calling into the same conference from different technologies. Many of these are cloud based.

    Some of these are:

  • Richard, you could simply use something like Pexip Infinity as a gateway solution so that you retain the Lync/SfB experience.  Have a look at a video here demonstrating this interoperability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPGcJCeXIig

Or some other nice videos of interoperability https://youtu.be/9F_usi6RDH4 or https://youtu.be/ejqeH2l2aF0?list=PLWlKsRAJWdUeniiu460ekTPlzUs9P7Jmq
