  • Hi,

You can try to find the driver on Windows Update Catalog.

To use the Windows Update Catalog

    1. On the Microsoft Update home page, under Other options click Administrator options.

    2. Under Update multiple operating systems click Windows Update Catalog.

    3. Click Find driver updates for hardware devices.

    4. Click Pick a hardware category, and search for the latest updates to keep your devices working properly.

Note: The Microsoft Update site scans your system to see what you have installed. You may be asked to download software onto your computer to facilitate this process. The safety and privacy of your system information is protected during this scan. If you are concerned about your privacy, read the Microsoft Update privacy statement that is available on the Microsoft Update site.

If the driver still cannot be installed, it is recommended that you post it on Windows XP forums. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Here you go . I just put Vista on a Gateway Profile 5, the Device Manager kept showing the Multimedia Audio Controller was not installed , after a considerable amout of time this was found to solve the issue. Attached is the driver from Gateway that resolved this issue. Good Luck   (search this filename)   6285_Vista_APO_PG536
